"... When you wake up, but have not yet opened your eyes, you feel through the eyelids only the light from the windows – a state of want to write" (Juvenal Korovin)
The exhibition "FACE TO THE LIGHT" – a tribute of the memory to the remarkable artist, painter and graphic, absolute master of light painting, wonderful book illustrator – Juvenaly Dmitrievich Korovin (1914 – 1991).
The childhood and youth of the artist have passed in Yekaterinburg. So he could be considered a representative of the Ural culture rightly. Korovin graduated the Moscow Institute of Fine Arts, formed on the base of several departments of VHUTEMAS Higher Artistic and Technical Workshops (since 1926 VHUTEIN Higher State Artistic and Technical Institute)
Korovin is known not only as an artist but also as an original philosopher, who left his diary notes and deep thoughts about the art.
The exhibition "FACE TO THE LIGHT" is a small and very interesting part of the creative heritage of the artist, gathered in the collection of Leonid Salmin, professor of the Ural State University of Architecture and Art, grandnephew of Juvenal Korovin. The exposition presents primarily graphic works related to the prints which were made during the 40s – 60s of the last century in the technique of author lithography.
